One core distinctive of BSBC culture is a deep love for the Word of God. Scripture is, first and foremost, how God makes himself known to us. Furthermore, even if the Bible doesn’t directly address a topic — day-to-day decisions, cultural-political issues etc — it does lay out principles from which we form our view of the world. Our confidence in both knowing God and forming sound opinions on every issue we face hinges on the trustworthiness of scripture. Today we begin a four-part series directly asking the question, Can we trust the Bible?

We return to our summer series on the topic of politics and the Christian witness. There were several resources that were extremely helpful in preparing for this panel, but by far the most helpful was a short book from 9Marks called "How can I Love Church Members with Different Politics?" by Jonathan Leeman and Andy Neselli. We have copies available in our church office, but you can also find a hard copy here: https://tinyurl.com/wb43yefp
If podcasts are more your thing (which they obviously are because you're this deep into the show notes), Crossway put an audio version of Leeman and Neselli's book in their podcast feed. You can listen to that episode here: https://tinyurl.com/prhvmfb8
Two other resources that were extremely helpful were "Letters to an American Christian" by Bruce Ashford and "Onward" by Russell Moore.

Today we'll hear the second part of a discussion around the joys and challenges of discipleship. If you're a woman at BSBC, we highly encourage you to purchase a copy of Melissa Kruger's Growing Together ($14 and available in the welcome center on Sunday mornings) and sign up to be in an intentional friendship with another sister (signing up is possible on Sunday mornings in the welcome center as well).

Beginning in September, the women of Bull Street will meet one-on-one to read and discuss the book Growing Together by Melissa Kruger as a means of strengthening and encouraging one another in the faith. Today we'll hear part one of the vision behind these "intentional friendships" from Char-la Fowler recorded at a women's ministry study earlier this summer.
